The only thing that scares me with HoM and all these Titles, is that it will make sure that GW2 starts of with same crap we have now.
Lvl 8 ?? LFG, (no noobs without 10 GW1 titles)

It's been stated repeatedly that the benefits you recieve from the HoM will have no in-game effect, i.e. you'll receive only vanity bonuses.
Although, given what we've seen in GW1, that could very likely cause "elitist issues". Let's just hope they stay true to being able to solo the whole game and the sidekick system, aye?

I guess I'm happy about the account-based thing, but I sure wish i wouldn't have "wasted" parts of the last six months duplicating titles on multiple characters...
However, now that things like sweet tooth and party animal will (essentially) be account-based, maybe the prices of those supplies will come down?
EDIT - finished reading the OP...
AWESOME that you can continue to add to the HoM after starting GW2. But, That only makes sense as I was considering putting off actually BUYING GW2 until my HoM was suitably decked out. I'm sure they don't want people doing that!

Game design integrity? You act like the HoM was perfect the way it was. It was designed poorly, basically forcing players to focus entirely on one character, if anything this update reverts some of the previous design errors that were introduced in Eye of the North -- it lets us play with multiple characters again, without the fear of missing out on content when GW2 rolls around.
The fact there's people like you, who will whine about whatever Anet try and do to make the game better, just proves how flawed the community is.

I am pretty sure Anet is not that dumb (or am I?). Titles you grind in GW should have no effect what so ever on GW2 or they will lose new players.

Yes. The community is FLAWED. People have differing OPINIONS. What a shock!
I never had the problem with the original design, since I didn't care, but its true that it was flawed.
I don't really have a problem with the change itself. Its more streamline, albeit still flawed.
My problem is that they changed it based on people who have been whining in Sardelac that they are being punished for playing more characters.
Those kind of people present a flawed argument and augment it with whining. And Anet relents. Anet only did this to shut them up.
The design is still flawed.
The HOM system should not have been implemented as part of the storyline, and instead as a "private" centralized location like Guild Hall as part of the CORE design, allowing all players access via ALL their characters all at once as easily as changing characters without needing to unlock a new outpost.
Instead of rethinking the design to fix its true flaws, they will be patching it to quiet those who misunderstand the true flaws in the design. Its still rewarding you for GRINDING. The fact that people have accepted this does not make it good.
Its very short sighted and imo, Stupid.

I hope not. That would certainly not be natural or logical.
That IMO would be the dumbest way to integrate titles that were character based to being account based. The values on each separate character should be added together to get the account total, the value you would have achieved if it had been that way from the start.

Outside of pure awesomeness of account-based rewarding GW1 accomplishments there's another great thing in this Dev Update:
The rewards in GW2 will be available to all your characters, not just one!
It means they may be actually designing GW2 in a way that doesn't discourage multi-character playstyles from the beginning! So you don't have to make decisions like selecting a favorite GW2 character to inherit your HoM goodness and then regret such a choice, something I really didn't like in the old announcements.
Account-based GW2 inheritance is an excellent decision - just as account-based GW1 rewarding is.

A wise choice by Anet, but far, far too late. I quit playing this game months ago, along with everyone else I know IRL, largely because of the HoM blunder. There were other reasons of course, but that was a huge one.
The HoM should've been all this and more from the get-go.
However, to those of you that still play, I truly am glad you're getting a good update like this.
